About Trail Life TX-1273

As Trail Life USA Troop members, we share a common vision, striving together to “guide generations of courageous young men to honor God, lead with integrity, serve others, and experience outdoor adventure”. Our program is a Christ-centered leadership, character, and adventure program for young men.  Our mission to “Walk Worthy” comes from Colossians 1:10 “…that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God…”

Our Troop operates as a ministry of our charter organization, Frisco Bible Church.  Young men ages 5 to 17 are encouraged to join our Troop to participate in scheduled events and activities.  Our meetings are held on three Tuesdays per month at 6:45pm. Additionally, there are scheduled campouts and service opportunities, and other events and activities to participate in together.

Our Troop philosophy is that all members meet together, breaking into age-specific program groups at various times during Troop meetings. This provides a well-rounded program that integrates leadership opportunities for the older boys, and also role models to help teach the younger boys. Program activities are designed to grow life skills and provide faith-building activities.

Fulfilling a Trail Life USA core value, our Troop is entirely volunteer-led.  Parents are very involved and are welcomed to participate. There are many opportunities for service; in fact, parents are encouraged to join as Trail Life USA members, so that they can help further the mission of Trail Life USA, and assure the protection of the boys as part of the required two-deep leadership.  Just ask our Troopmaster or the Committee Chair for an invitation to join—a link to complete that process will be emailed to you.

What does TX-1273 mean?
Each Trail Life troop is identified by their state abbreviation and a number of their choosing. Our troop is identified as TX-1273. 1273 comes from Psalm 127:3 "Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord, children, a reward."

When do we meet?
Typically our troop meets three Tuesdays each month during the school year. Our meetings start at 6:45pm and last until 8:15 pm. We recommend everyone arrive a little earlier in order to go through our check-in process.

Check-in process.
As a part of our meetings we check-in each of our boys and the corresponding parent or guardian. This process before our meetings helps us track each boy being present.

Where do we meet?
Our troop meets at Frisco Bible Church at 8000 Sanctuary Dr. Frisco, Texas. Frisco Bible Church is our Charter Organization.

What do we do in a meeting?
At 6:45pm we all gather in the gym for our opening ceremony where we post colors and recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and recite the Trailman's Oath. After a short opening lead by one of our troop leaders, we break out into the different patrols to work on the activity for that night.

Where do we get our uniform?
Uniforms and other Trail Life items may be purchased by going to the Trail Life USA website. There you will see all the items available for uniforms and other 'non-uniform' and apparel.

To get started we ask that all Trailmen and Leaders will need to have a Class A uniform shirt and tr-color hat to display the pride of being a part of our Troop. The Class A uniform is the button up shirt and is required for boys to receive awards during award ceremonies and other official functions. Uniform pants are optional, jeans/khakis are the appropriate alternatives. The uniform shirt and hat are expected to be purchased within 30 days of registration.

About Trail Life Registration Fees and Troop Dues.
Trail Life requires all Trailmen and associated leaders to pay an annual registration fee of $30. These fees are paid directly to Trail Life USA by each individual youth and adult member when they submit their initial membership application to Trail Life USA and annually thereafter on the anniversary of their membership with Trail Life. Each member will receive a reminder about a month before the annual TL fees are due.

Troop dues of $50 are also due at the same time as the Trail Life Registration Fees. These Troop dues help to cover the operating cost of the Troop for meeting supplies, awards and other various Troop expenses. You can pay your troop dues at 1273.org/members.

Fundraisers
Doing fundraisers is a means for us to raise funds in order to support the activities of our Troop such as meetings, Hit the Trail events, and camping in order to make the event's cost minimum for our Trailmen.

We are currently looking for fundraisers to do in the future. If you know of a fundraiser that would be good for our Troop please let us know about it as soon as possible.

How do I get more information about joining the TX-1273 Troop?
